KORAT: Singapore won its first gold in triathlon on Sunday, continuing the tradition from the last SEA Games in 2005.

Mok Ying Ren was the man who delivered the coveted medal for the race, which covers swimming, biking and running.

19-year-old Mok followed in the footsteps of fellow Singaporean, Cheng Jin Hean, who triumphed in the sport at the Manila SEA Games two years ago.

Mok initially fell to the fourth spot in the bike event.

But he caught up during the run and finally completed the race in a time of 2 hours, five minutes and eight seconds (2:05:08).

Philippines took both the silver and bronze medals.

    Ron roared at 01:29.
